Is your ROAD clearly marked?

Black Forest is full of little private lanes and easement roads. Many of these are poorly marked, marked from only one direction, or not marked at all.

If you live on one of these private roads, take a little time to post a good, clear sign at the intersection with the main road. And make sure that it can be seen from BOTH directions!

Before you need us...
help us find you!

If you can’t answer “yes” to each of the following questions, then you need to improve your home’s numbering. A little work and a small expense can help save a life when minutes count.

  • Is it clear which driveway is yours? Is there a mailbox or address sign at the end?
  • Are your address numbers at least 4 inches tall?
  • Is there strong contrast between numbers and the background? (black on white is best)
  • Are numbers on both sides of your mailbox or address sign?
  • If you have a homemade street sign, does it follow the rules above?
  • If there are forks in your driveway or private road, is there a sign that shows us where to turn?
  • If you share a driveway or private road with neighbors, does each house have its own address sign to tell us where to turn off the driveway?

Here's what we need to be able to find you:
