Black Forest Fire/Rescue provides emergency medical care and ambulance transport under the direction of Dr. Marilyn Gifford of Memorial Hospital. As our Physician Advisor, Dr. Gifford requires that we follow her protocols for prehospital care, and requires annual continuing education for all of our members.
Memorial EMS Scope of Practice lists the medical skills and acts allowed for each level of EMS certification. Many thanks to Bill Mayfield, EMS-RN for writing this, and for allowing us to post it.
Rule 500, from the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners, governs the practice of prehospital care in Colorado. This memo from Memorial Hospital provides additional guidance on the relationship between this Rule and our local protocols.
