Medical privacy policy:
Notice of Privacy Practices

On April 14th, 2003, the federal Healthcare Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) went into effect. As a healthcare provider, the Black Forest Fire Rescue Protection District Ambulance Service is required to protect your "Protected Health Information" as proscribed by the new law. However, Black Forest Fire/Rescue has always taken care to respect the privacy of our patents, even before this law went into effect.

Our Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) describes the procedures we use to protect your information. Our NPP is available for downloading:

Residents without Internet access may call Fire Station One at (719) 495-4300, or mail a written request to Black Forest Fire Rescue Protection District at 11445 Teachout Road, Colorado Springs, CO  80908. We will mail a copy back to you.

In some cases BFFR is also required by law to try to get a receipt stating that patients have received the Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP). For patient convenience, we have combined this receipt with the standard billing authorization. If you would like to have this form on file with the department, please download the form below and drop it off at Station One.
