Black Forest Firewise Program
What is a Firewise USA Community
The Firewise Community program is a nationally recognized initiative administered by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). This program aims to encourage and empower neighborhoods to take proactive measures to mitigate wildfire risks and prepare for emergencies. Within our community, we have made a commitment to adapt and live with the potential threat of wildfires, and to foster a collaborative approach to risk reduction among neighbors. By promoting community-wide participation in wildfire mitigation efforts, Firewise Communities are making significant strides towards reducing wildfire risk and increasing preparedness.
The benefits of being a Firewise Community are:
- Reducing wildfire risk to your property and your community.
- Working together with neighbors.
- Building strong collaborative relationships.
- Additional information and program criteria can be found on the Firewise website. (https://www.nfpa.org/Public-Education/Fire-causes-and-risks/Wildfire/Firewise-USA )
