Become a Firefighter for the Day!

Ride-alongs are defined as opportunities for individuals to come to a station and ride with crews on fire apparatus for a designated time period. Ride-along timeframe will be 8am to 6pm and is at the discretion of the station officer to allow for more time. Ride-alongs will not be scheduled on “line-observed” holidays unless approved by the station officer. Ride-alongs are observation only, riders are not to take part in emergency operations.

Standards

  • Riders must be at least 16 years old. Minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
  • Riders must be in good health. Riders will not be allowed if they have a severe cold or illness.
  • Riders must follow all orders given by the Officer in Charge. Any failure to do so will be an immediate termination of the ride along and no future ride along will be allowed.
  • Riders will only be allowed one ride-along every 6 months.
  • Once a hiring process begins, the ride-along program will be discontinued until the end of that hiring process.
  • Smoking is not allowed in any firehouse or while riding in BFFR vehicles.
  • Report to Black Forest Station 1 located at 11445 Teachout Rd. at 0800.
