Residential Project Process

Step 1

Start With PPRBD

Use PPRBD’s project guide to determine whether your project requires a permit or plan review.

Step 2

Submit Plans and Obtain Your Permit

Submit the required plans and information to PPRBD. PPRBD reviews the project and issues the applicable building permit.

Step 3

Complete the BFFR Impact Fee Process

For qualifying new development, PPRBD sends the project information to BFFR after the permit is issued.

BFFR calculates the impact fee and sends the applicant an invoice.

Step 4

Review Fire District Requirements

Depending on the property and project, additional requirements may apply to:

  • Fire apparatus access
  • Driveways and turnarounds
  • Address visibility
  • Firefighting water supply
  • Cisterns or dry hydrants
  • Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code requirements

Review the BFFR Development Standards section before beginning construction.

Step 5

Begin Construction and Schedule Inspections

After the permit is issued, the BFFR impact fee is paid, and all applicable requirements are satisfied, construction may begin.

Required building inspections are scheduled through PPRBD.
